SEO for roofers

SEO for roofers, for the months when it is not raining

Roofing demand arrives in spikes. A named storm fills the phone for a fortnight and then it goes quiet, and the quiet months are when the profitable work — full re-roofs, flat roof replacements, commercial contracts — is being searched for by somebody who has not decided yet.

Four different searches

The storm search is not the one worth owning

Emergency roof searches spike hard and drop fast, and they are fought over by national lead-generation sites with far bigger budgets than yours. The searches worth owning are the ones happening steadily all year: someone whose roof is twenty-five years old, working out what a re-roof costs before they ring anyone.

Scaffolding is the reason honest pricing wins here. A homeowner who has been quoted three wildly different numbers is looking for the page that explains why they differ. Being the one that does is worth more than any ranking trick.

How the demand splitsRoofers
01

Emergency

“emergency roof repair [town]”, “roof leak repair near me”, “storm damage roof”

Spiky, seasonal, and dominated by national lead sellers. Worth a page so you appear locally, but a business built on this is a business built on the weather.

02

Re-roofing

“new roof cost uk”, “re-roof [town]”, “roof replacement cost”

Steady all year, high value, and researched for weeks. The searcher wants a number and an explanation of why quotes vary. This is the page that should exist first.

03

Flat roofing

“flat roof replacement [town]”, “EPDM roof cost”, “GRP fibreglass roof”

A distinct search with a distinct buyer, usually asking which system to choose. Whoever explains EPDM against GRP without pushing gets the enquiry.

04

Commercial and specialist

“commercial roofing contractor [town]”, “lead flashing repair”, “chimney repointing”

Lower volume, much larger contracts, and far less competition than the domestic terms. Consistently the most under-built page on a roofing website.

How it works

What the monthly work actually is

Roofing has a seasonal shape, so the build order follows it: get the year-round pages ranking before the quiet months arrive, not during them.

  1. Find out what you already rank for

Search Console and the live results for your towns. Roofing sites often already rank for a storm term and nothing else, which tells you exactly which page is missing.

  2. Fix the Google Business Profile

Categories, services, service area, and photographs of finished roofs, never stock imagery. For the emergency searches this outweighs the website, and it is the fastest thing here to move.

  3. Build the re-roofing page first

What a new roof actually costs, what changes the number, why scaffolding is a large part of it, and how long the job takes. Homeowners comparing three quotes are looking for exactly this page, and almost nobody has written it.

  4. Then flat roofing, commercial and repairs

A page each, matching how each is searched for. The commercial page usually has the least competition and the largest contract value, which makes it better value than its search volume suggests.

  5. Photograph the work and use it

Project galleries as their own pages, before and after, with the town named. It gives Google more ways to find you and gives the homeowner the evidence they were looking for.

£495 a month, against one re-roof a year.

Local is £495 a month: one area, the searches around it, the Business Profile and the site work. Growth is £995 a month where you want more job types, more towns or the harder terms. If you already have a website worth keeping there is no build to fund, so Growth is £895 a month on a six-month minimum term instead of 12. Prices are the full amount payable; no VAT is added on top.

Set it against your quiet months, not against zero. A full re-roof is worth several thousand pounds, so the plan needs to produce roughly one extra a year to have covered itself, and anything past that is margin. It takes three to six months to build, which is the argument for starting in the quiet season and not the busy one. Full pricing.

SEO for Roofers questions

Questions people usually ask us

Google Business Profile changes and on-page fixes can show inside a few weeks. Ranking movement on re-roofing and flat roof terms more commonly takes three to six months. That timing is why it is worth starting in your quiet season: the work you commission in November is what fills the following summer.
